Jack J. Shipman, age 91, of Painesville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. He was born to Lloyd and Mae (Crouse) on April 5, 1934 in Browntown, WV. He married the love of his life, Loretta (Jones) Shipman on August 21, 1954. Jack was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church for 70 years. Over those years he wore many hats - Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Trustee and whatever else was needed around the church. Jack retired from Morton Salt after working for 31 years. He loved his job and working "down under" in those salt mines. He enjoyed gardening and growing a yard full of tomatoes in the summer. First and foremost, Jack loved Jesus, his Lord and Saviour. Talking to others about Jesus and inviting them to church was what he loved to do while telling them of the wonderful things Christ had done for him in his life.
Jack is survived by his daughter Chris (Merle) Wise of York, PA, daughter Donna Shipman of Painesville, daughter-in-law Tami (Dan) Baker of Painesville; grandchildren, Philip (Bethany) Ford, Rachelle Ford, Dillon Shipman and Jacob Shipman; great grandchildren, Eithen Ford and Bella Ford, and his furry four-legged companion "Lucy". Jack is also survived by his brother Cyrus (Ella) Shipman and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his wonderful wife, Loretta of 64 years; his son, Douglas Shipman, son-in-law, Avery Ford, his parents, Lloyd and Mae Shipman, in-laws, Leo and Anna Jones; brother, Donald Shipman; sisters, Pauline Kennin, Ruby McCauley and Velma Fox; brother-in-law, Leo Jones, Jr. and cousins Mary Skinner and Robert Green.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Sunday, May 11, 2025 at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue , Painesville. Funeral service will be held at Lakeside Baptist Church, 306 Fairport Nursery Road, Painesville at 11:00 am with viewing starting at 10:00 am on Monday, May 12, 2025. Interment will be at Perry Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family would like to request that donations be made to Samaritan's Purse helping those in the US and around the world in times of disaster (samaritanspurse.org).
We would also like to give a special thanks to all the wonderful doctors, nurses, aids, CNP's, therapists and hospital staff that worked on the 4th floor at UH Tripoint Hospital. You were all such an amazing team that went "Above and Beyond" while taking care of our dad during his multiple stays on your floor. Words cannot express the appreciation we have for your kindness.
