James David Carter, age 58, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on January 26, 2024. He was born August 24, 1965, in Euclid, Ohio to James Albert Carter and Alice Catherine (Fletcher) Carter.
Jimi was such a hard-working man, he was a talented Chef at numerous restaurants such as Quail Hollow, Redhawk Grille, and Zappitellis to name a few. He was also a butcher for many years at Giant Eagle. He enjoyed putting on an awesome firework show with his father-in-law, Tony Dodson. He truly was a jack of all trades and could do anything he put his mind to. But his biggest achievement in life was raising his daughter and son. They were truly the light of his life. He made sure that they had a deep love for God and always made sure they stayed on the right path. He truly was the greatest Dad. He loves his family so fiercely and that is something that will always live on through them. He sacrificed everything for his children to give them the best life that they deserved, and that didn't stop after childhood. He continued to do everything he could for his family until the day he left for heaven. He was such a selfless man and he wouldn't think twice about helping those in need.
What he enjoyed most was spending time with his kids who he nicknamed “Bird (court) & Pooh (nate)”, and his Grandbabies, he made sure to never miss a moment! He was there for every first, every holiday, every baseball game, every birthday, always playing baseball with them, and taking the grandbabies off roading in his Jeep! He most definitely enjoyed a joy ride on his Harley in his free time. He was also a loyal fan of the Cleveland Browns and loved watching the games with his son Nate and daughter-in-law, Jenna. He truly was always so proud of his kids. And he had a best friend in his son Nate. They enjoyed every minute they got to spend together, down to his last as they held hands until the very end. He enjoyed warm summer nights out on the porch with his son-in-law, Scotty. He was always up to enjoying a hot cup of coffee made by Mary, he said she made the best, and a fantastic burger made by his daughter Courtney, and a delicious steak made by his son-in-law Scotty.
James is survived by his daughter, Courtney (Scott) Blair; son, Nathan Carter (Jenna Smith); former Spouse Mary Carter, grandchildren, Chloe, Scott Jr., Carly, Carter, and baby Jack (arriving July 2024); brothers, Robert Carter, John Carter; sister, Ruth Maxon. And his many cherished nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Marguerite Carter and Catherine Carter.
