James Michael Ferrell

Graveside services for James Michael Ferrell, age 66, of Perry will be 1:30 PM Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at Riverside Cemetery, 585 Riverside Drive in Painesville (Where children are welcome and masks are mandatory).  James was born on September 19, 1954, in Charleston, West Virginia. He passed away December 19, 2020, at Tri Point Medical Center peacefully, due to complications of Covid-19 Pneumonia.

He served in the US Army-RA during Vietnam. He was lucky not to see any action, even though he had signed up numerous times to go. He ended up being stationed in Germany as a generator operator where he was first educated in the use of illegal drugs. After receiving an Honorable discharge. He decided to travel/hitchhike across the United States.

After various jobs, he took a job as a security guard for Lake Erie College where he met Karin Ferrell and they married in 1982. In 1984 they had a daughter, Samantha Ferrell (who was his best friend).  After 25 years of marriage, they got divorced but always remained very close friends. She was the love of his life. In April 2020, (due to Covid) he moved back into the household living with her and his grandson and daughter. Where we all drove each other crazy in quarantine.

He had numerous jobs from truck driving to a residential electrician, he considered himself a Jack of all trades and the master of none. He loved fishing with his daughter and teaching her mechanical inclined tasks so she would be independent. Also listening to his LPs and 45’s one of his favorite groups were Creedence Clearwater Revival, Rolling Stones, and he also loved old country music. He loved to smoke, drink, gamble tell his stories and also loved to look at any cute blond that walked on by.

He is survived by his daughter Samantha Ferrell, ex son in law, Zachary Randall (who fondly called him “Jimmy”; And his 7-year-old grandson (his sweet sweet boy) Owen Michael Randall; Also his brother Terry Ferrell and also leaves his former wife Karin Ferrell.

He proceeded in death by his father Arlie Willliam Ferrell and Edna (Pullen) Marcum.
