It is with great sadness that we announce the passing our beloved brother, James “Wild Wild” West. Born February 17, 1969, the fourth son of the late Dr. Leslie J. West and Jean A. West (nee: Hendrickson). James died on September 17, 2021, from dementia.
He lived the majority of his life in Perry and as a boy competed in the Special Olympics, swimming in the State Championship. After graduation from Broadmoor School, James worked in many area restaurants, always dreaming of owning his own. As the disease progressed, he found rewarding work at Willoughby Workshop. James served his Lord and Savior as an usher for years at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He moved to a semi -independent group house in Painesville 15 years ago, and enjoyed his house mates, staff, and independence. As a fun-loving prankster, he kept everyone on their toes. We would like to especially thank his house supervisor, Charlotte Maditz, whose love and caring for our brother was exceptional and we are forever grateful.
He is survived by his “favorite” brothers, Eric (Pamela) of Chardon, David (Brenda) of Williamsburg, VA, Kurt of Perry, Uncle Art (Doris) of Leroy; cousins, Dennis, Karl, Amy, Janel; nephews, Ryan, Matthew, Chad, Tyler; nieces, Lauren, Victoria, Gabrielle.
Friends will be received on Thursday, September 30th from 3:00 - 7:00 PM at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville. Funeral Service on Friday, October 1st at 11 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 250 Bowhall Rd. Painesville. Interment at Riverside Cemetery immediately following.
Donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
