James G. Kundrath, age 96, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025. He was born on April 5, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Joseph K. Kundrath and Katherine (Petrilla) Kundrath.
James served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1947. He was a member of the HAM radio Club, and his call sign was KC8NYG. He had a great fondness for his cat “Pepper”. He also enjoyed reading, boating, golf and taking care of his house.
James is survived by his wife, Helen (Mizda) Kundrath; sons, Roger Kundrath, Gerald Kundrath, and Mark (Susan) Kundrath; grandson, Anthony James Miller; and granddaughter, Dusty Buell (Donald Tenney, Jr.).
James was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Joseph Kundrath, sister, Rita (Robert) Byram.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 242 North State Street, Painesville. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow the calling hours at the church. Interment will take place at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon following the Mass.
