Jean L. (Baker) Craig, age 86, passed away March 18, 2025, at University Hospital Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby. She was born, April 4, 1938, in Painesville to John Szekley and Elizabeth (Youdath) Szekley.
Jean was the head cook at Hadden Elementary School for many years. She loved working on crafts, especially painting, and stained glass. She also enjoyed working outside in her yard, traveling, watching cooking shows, and was a lover of pets. Jean was a ray of sunshine and loved by everyone, she will be greatly missed.
Jean is survived by her sons, Mark (Kathy) Baker and Dan (Tami) Baker; daughter, Barb (Mark) Sawyer; brother, Johnny Szekley; sister, Joanne (Doug) Cowell; grandchildren, Rachel (Gabriel) Wilkinson, Julia (Paul) Wilkinson, Zachary and Jacob Baker, step-grandchildren, Dillon and Jake Shipman, Ryan and Jason Sutt; great grandchildren, James and Olivia Wilkinson, Lillian and Tucker Wilkinson; and one on the way. She is also survived by her longtime companion and best friend, Roger Merrill.
She was preceded in death by her first husband James Baker, followed by her husband David Craig in 2007; son, Christopher Baker; grandson, Aaron Baker; former daughter-in-law, Kelly Baker; and her parents.
Friends will be received 11:00AM-12:00PM, March 28, 2025, at Painesville Baptist Church, 1307 Riverside Dr. Painesville Township, Ohio. Funeral Services will immediately follow the calling hours at noon. The interment will follow the funeral service at Riverside Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome back to the church for a luncheon, following the cemetery.
