Jessie Sabo, 97, of Perry, Ohio, passed peacefully on the morning of January 27, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by strength, devotion, and enduring love for her family.
Born on November 5, 1928, in Perry, Jessie spent most of her life rooted in the community she called home. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Sabo, with whom she shared a life grounded in faith, commitment, and family.
Jessie was a devoted mother to her sons Robert, Timothy, and Rickey, and a loving mother-in-law to Marlene and Jayne. She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren. She was one of ten siblings and is survived by her brother, Charles Johnson of Troy, Ohio.
To know Jessie was to know strength—quiet, steady, and unwavering. Her devotion to her Catholic faith guided her life and sustained her through both joy and hardship. Nowhere was that devotion more evident than in the extraordinary care she gave to her son Rickey, whom she lovingly cared for at home for 25 years following a life-altering accident, until his passing. This chapter of her life reflected the depth of her selflessness and the boundless love she had for her family.
Jessie was known for her sharp wit, incredible sense of humor, and gift for storytelling. She had a profound memory and could bring the past vividly to life, often around the table during family dinners—moments she treasured deeply. She loved to read, found comfort and joy in gospel music, and believed deeply in the importance of family, faith, and togetherness.
Above all else, Jessie was a devoted mother and grandmother whose emotional strength, kindness, and resilience shaped generations. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her stories, laughter, and example will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
A private service will be held in Perry, Ohio.
