Joan H. Sherman

Joan H. Sherman, age 89, died peacefully October 1, 2024, at O’Neill Healthcare North Ridgeville.  She was the beloved daughter of Gerald and Ruth Herbison, born in Cleveland, Ohio, and lived her entire life in the area.

Joan was well-known for her artistic talents as an amazing painter, decorator, gardener, and seamstress. She owned and operated Ceramic Treasures in Euclid for many years. Her family members and friends have hand-painted sinks, murals, paintings, drawings, and ceramic or sewn creations in their homes by which to remember her. She was always willing to take on a project to beautify the world.

Her Catholic faith was an important part of her life, and she was a Eucharistic Minister and member of the funeral ministry at St. Mary Catholic Church in Painesville.

Joan is survived by her children, Karen (Thomas) Blatnik, Bonnie (Chuck Herman) Chiancone, Claudine Sherman Steinfurth, Lloyd “Les” (Janet) Sherman, Suzanne Sherman (Ron) Carlton, Eleanor Sherman (Lance) Molter, and F. Jacque (Anne) Sherman; her siblings, Gerald Herbison, Cathy (Charles) Knoop, and Richard (Jocelyn) Herbison; and many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Francis Sherman, daughter, Debbie Lanese, and sister-in-law, Patricia Herbison.  

Family will receive friends from 9:00 – 10:00 AM, Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 242 North State Street, Painesville, Ohio.  A Memorial Mass will immediately follow at 10:00 AM. The family invites everyone to join them for lunch following the Mass in St. Mary’s Hall. Inurnment will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Burton.
