Joanne E. (Schurk) Lombardy

A celebration of life and Mass of Christian Burial for Joanne E. Lombardy, age 87, will be 11:00 am, Thursday, August 24, 2023, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Rd. Concord, OH. Friends will be received one hour before the mass at the back of the church.

A lifetime Painesville resident, Joanne was born on December 26, 1935, and passed away on August 19, 2023, at Vista Springs Memory Care Facility in Concord Township.

Joanne graduated from the Andrews School for Girls in 1953.  She was a beautician and homemaker.

Mrs. Lombardy, along with her husband Nick, was a founding member of St. Gabriel Church.  Joanne loved being with her family and was the rock upon which all family gatherings were staged. She was quick with a beautiful smile to everyone she met, and when she met you, you were automatically her friend.  She and her husband traveled extensively around the world with family and friends.  She particularly enjoyed the annual family fishing trips to Canada that they attended for almost 50 years and hosting holiday and summer parties at their home.  She was a prolific gardener and truly loved tending to her many flowers in the yard.  But her greatest love was her family, especially her moments with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Lisa (Tim) Cannon, of Painesville, John (Tiffany) Lombardy, of Aledo, Texas, her grandchildren, Geoff (Bonnie) Cannon, Sarah (Jared Eichhorn) Cannon, Laura (Steve) Crea, Andrew (Kali) Lombardy, Nick (Whitney) Lombardy and great-grandchildren, Reagan Cannon, Charlie Eichhorn, Joanna Eichhorn, AJ Crea, Josie Crea, Banks Lombardy and Boston Lombardy.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Nicholas Lombardy and parents, Elmer and Helen (Weber) Schurk.

The family also would like to recognize and thank the staff at Vista Springs Quail Highlands and the team at Hospice of the Western Reserve for the incredible care and love they gave to Joanne over the last 2+ years.  They truly made her last years happy ones.

Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
