Johanna Baranauskas, age 96, passed away March 17, 2021 at Concord Village Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born March 16, 1925 in Austria to Ignatius and Johanna Freindorfer.
Johanna had an adventurous spirit and was a world traveler. In 1958, she left a successful hotel management career in Switzerland and family in Austria, to come to the United States to start a new life on her own. Johanna was a wonderful cook and had been trained by chefs in Switzerland. Her love of gardening, flowers, animals and exploring the outdoors was passed onto her children and grandsons, whom she loved very much and was most proud. She watched the Cleveland Indians faithfully and never missed a game. Each season she learned the players and stats and hoped for a World Series win. Mom was deeply loved by her family and will forever be missed.
Johanna is survived by her sons Stanley (Barbara) Baranauskas, Alfons Baranauskas and Marcus (Melissa Stein) Baranauskas, sister Marta, grandsons, Andrew Baranauskas, Matthew Baranauskas and Andrew Stein.
Funeral services for Johanna will be held at 12:00pm Monday, March 22nd at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio. Friends will be received from 10:00am-12:00pm before the service at the funeral home.
