John Josef Joo, age 62, passed away May 15, 2024, at his residence in Wickliffe, Ohio. He was born September 12, 1961, in Cleveland to Josef and Agnes (Sabitsch) Joo.
John was a CNC machinist and worked for Babcock & Wilcox for 45 years.
He loved his job as a CNC machinist and was proud to be part of the UAW. John remained an active member after his retirement, attending meetings at the UAW Local 2262. He enjoyed working on his home, spending time with his animals, and working out in his yard. He enjoyed fixing and working on machines, learning new skills, and was always taking on new and different hobbies that interested him. He was brilliant in mathematics, was kind and helpful, and loved sharing his knowledge with those around him. He was proud of his Hungarian heritage and loved his family. He will be missed by all who were part of his life.
He is survived by his mother, Agnes Joo of Mentor, Children: Larissa Rich of Mentor, Johnny Joo of Mentor, Sisters: Rosemary (Ray) Gregor of Mentor, Christine (Paul) Graehling of Mentor, granddaughters Elise and Miranda Rich of Mentor, mother of his children, Dinah Townsend of Mentor.
He is preceded in death by his father, Josef Joo, maternal grandparents, Josef and Gisela Sabitsch.
Friends will be received 4:00 – 6:00 PM, Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Monday, May 20th at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 8560 Mentor Avenue, Mentor, Ohio. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Burial will be at Mentor Cemetery.
