Joseph E. Atwell

Joseph E. Atwell, age 55, passed away July 24, 2025, at Tri Point Medical Center in Concord Township.  He was born March 30, 1970, in Painesville to Bernard A. Atwell and Mary Jean (Roberts) Atwell.

Joe worked for Auburn Career Center as the Director of Buildings, Grounds & Maintenance for over 27 years.  He was devoted husband, incredible father and grandfather.  When not working, Joe enjoyed spending time with his family, passing on his knowledge to those he loved and traveling.  

Joe is survived by his wife, Kim  (Hietapelto) Atwell; daughter, Stephanie (Ryan) Bissell; sons, Justin (Izzy) Rhoads, Tyler (Chelsie) Rhoads and Hunter (Kennedy) Rhoads; grandchildren, Sofia, Colton, Cooper, Gavin, Oliver, Beckett, Emerson and Aurora; brothers, Chuck (Sue) Atwell, John (Ronda) Atwell, Bernie (Jeannie) Atwell and Dan (Kris) Atwell;

He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard A. Atwell and his parents.

Friends will be received 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio.  Funeral Services will immediately follow at 7:00 PM.
