Judith A. (Potocer) Gaines

Judith A. Gaines, age 85, passed away January 9, 2026, at Ohman Family Living in Newbury, Ohio, and now rests in the eternal presence of her Lord and Savior. She was born October 3, 1940, in Cleveland to Joseph and Elsie Potocer.

Judy worked many years in accounting for Lake Hospital Systems, before transitioning to ministry, working as assistant to the pastors of Calvary Fellowship Baptist Church, where she was a member for many years.

Judy enjoyed reading, quilting, traveling, but most importantly, spending time with her family. Known to her family as Mom, Grandma and Nanie, she was a die-hard fan at any event her grandkids were participating in.

Judy will always be remembered for serving others first, her warm smile, and her love of Jesus.

Judy is survived by her son, James (Jeanne) Gaines; daughters, Sherry (Bruce-deceased) Murray and Karen (Mark) Biggs; grandchildren, Kristy (Kevin) Keeper, Emily (Phil) Slagle, Joy Biggs, Jeffrey (Julie) Biggs, Haley Gaines, Madeline (Kobe) Eichelberger, Alyssa Gaines (Cole-fiancee), and Colin (MaryKate) Gaines; and ten great grandchildren;

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James Ralph Gaines in 2018, and her parents.
