Judith May-Bayles Obituary

Judith ("Judy") L. May-Bayles peacefully passed away in her daughter's arms, surrounded by her family and friends, and went to heaven to join her son on July 23, 2024. She was 66 years old. Judy was born November 6, 1957, in Arlington, Virginia to John "Jack" Joseph May and Eunice Yvonne (Almes) May.

Judy graduated from Mentor High School in 1975. She worked as the maintenance supervisor of the Great Lakes Mall for 39 years.

Judy was one of the most selfless human beings. She got so much joy from making others laugh and feel loved. She cherished the memories and laughs made with her girlfriends on their infamous excursions where they often laughed until they cried. She loved going on trips to her family's cabin in Benezette, Pennsylvania, enjoying telling stories around the campfire reminiscing with her cousins and driving her grandkids around elk spotting.

Judy was the heart of her family. She is survived by her husband, David W. Bayles; daughter, April (Brian) Kiepura; stepson, Jim (Melissa) Bayles; sister, Merry Becker; brother Tim (Sherry) May, and numerous nieces and nephews. Judy was the best grandma and spoiled her grandchildren, Jack Kiepura, Sam Kiepura, Gavin Bayles, Kali Bayles, & her bonus grandson Luca Milostan. Judy also leaves behind so many special friends to cherish her memory. Additionally, Judy leaves behind 2 granddogs that she adored, Emmie Jo & Remi.

She was preceded in death by her son, Hank Bayles in 2022, her parents, her brother, Andrew May and her sister, Jill Wiegand.

Judy fought Crohns disease most of her adult life. She also battled breast cancer and numerous other medical issues, but she did it with such courage and rarely ever complained. She will be tremendously missed but her family and friends can rest at ease that she's now free of pain and sickness and her son was waiting at the gate to give her the biggest hug ever.

Burial services will be held privately at a later date. A Celebration of Life for Judy will be held September 14, 2024, at the American Legion (60 Chester St, Painesville, OH 44077) beginning at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Crohns and Colitis Foundation - Northern Ohio Chapter
