Kathleen J (Goodnough) Szekely

Kathleen Jean (Goodenough) Szekely, age 77, went home to be with the Lord June 18, 2021, at David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland.  She was born August 4, 1943, in Painesville, Ohio to Sgt. Albert and Marjorie (Smith) Goodenough. She married Frank Jerry Szekely, Sr. on February 3, 1963 in Perry, Ohio.

Kathleen was a member of First Church Congregational in Painesville since 1973 where she was active in Women’s Fellowship, Prayer Shawl Group, Heavenly Dusters (Chairman), after funeral luncheons (Co-Chairman) and was a Red Cross Blood Drive Volunteer.  She retired from D & D Modern Hair Designs in Willoughby in 2005.  Kathleen was a managing Cosmetologist since 1962.

Her hobbies were Crocheting, Quilting, Camping and Genealogy research.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, Frank Jerry Szekely, Sr.; sons, Franklin (Karla) Szekely, Jr. Joseph (Renee) Szekely; daughter, Marjorie Szekely and grandchildren, Jeremy, Lauren, Sarah and Adeline Szekely 

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents Victor and Jennie Smith, G. Bert and Lucy Goodenough.

Funeral Services for Kathleen will be held 7:00 PM Wednesday June 23, 2021, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio.  Family and friends will be received from 5-7 PM, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
