LaMar McClure, Jr, was born in Chicago, IL. on May 4, 1951 to the late LaMar McClure Sr. of Thompson, OH. and Ernestine Childs, who currently lives in Chicago, IL. LaMar, affectionately known as “French” was the oldest of nine siblings, four brothers and five sisters.
Frenchy attended James Madison Elementary School and graduated in 1968 from Emil G. Hirsch High School. Frenchy became a father at the age of 17 and immediately went to work at Wisconsin Steel Mill, to provide for the child he adored. At a young age he married the late Gayle C. Muskgrow, and to this union three more children were born over the next 8 years. Although the marriage eventually ended, he and Gayle remained good friends until her death in 2020.
Over the years Frenchy held several jobs, notably an extended career for St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, where he held the role of head custodian. After relocating to Painesville, he worked for Lakeland Community College and retired after 16 years of employment.
In 1992 he met Robbie Ware. Together they had a beautiful baby girl in 1995. In 2005, Frenchy decided to spend the rest of his life with Robbie, adding a stepdaughter and stepson to the family.
On Tuesday, February 23rd, Frenchy took his last breath with his dear wife beside him. Proceeding him in death is his father, LaMar McClure Sr., daughter, Kita McClure, brother, Maurice McClure and sister, Karen Franklin.
Frenchy leaves to mourn his memory, his mother, Ernestine Childs, wife, Robbie McClure, three daughters, Tracey (Steven) Anfield, LaDonna McClure, Alicia McClure, and one son, Russell (Monique) McClure; stepdaughter, Ashley Thomas, stepson Adonis Totten; three brothers, Mark McClure, Myron McClure and Ryan McClure; four sisters, Staci Bass, Felicia McClure, Marla McClure and Shavon Simmons; fourteen grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of relatives and friends.
