Louis A. Dreher, age 76, passed away April 27, 2024, at Tri Point Medical Center in Concord Township. He was born May 5, 1947, in Cleveland to Charles and Edythe (Benesh) Dreher.
Lou was a proud alumni of St. Joseph High School and earned an associate’s degree from Lakeland. Lou worked at Jergens Inc. for more than 40 years. For 9 years, he taught computer classes at Lakeland Community College. Throughout his life he participated in a variety of activities and clubs. He especially enjoyed golfing and bowling and was a VW enthusiast. Lou had an artistic eye for photography. He leaves behind a treasure trove of photos capturing his travels, family and friends, senior pictures, wedding photos and many that "just need a little more editing". Lou was in the Jaycees, where he built the prototype for the traffic light that Safety Town would use for many years. He was in the Cleveland Men’s Singing Group, the Cleveland Citizens Police Academy, the Celtic Nations Society of Northern Ohio and he volunteered for the Cleveland Sight Center as an announcer. He was a judge for the sport of Trampoline and Tumbling for many years. Since the '80s, he was a member of the Lake Erie N-Scale Society.
Lou enjoyed traveling with his wife and cousins. He traveled to Canada, Australia, Korea, Mexico, Ireland, and across the United States. Lou was a fan of the band, Willis Clan, and traveled with them to Ireland where he made contact with many other musicians that he grew to appreciate greatly.
Lou created his own family holiday, Lobster Day, much to the chagrin of his wallet. He loved Cleveland sports, especially the Guardians and the Browns, much to the chagrin of his heart. He loved to tell stories (never short ones) and his voice and guidance will be sorely missed. He never missed an opportunity to brag about his daughters and grandsons. Lou was a devoted husband, an amazing dad & a revered Opa. He loved fiercely and was loved tenfold in return.
Lou is survived by his wife, Donna Dreher; daughters, Kim (George) Plaatje and Lisa (Rich) Goldean; brother, Dennis (Pam) Dreher; sisters, Jeannie Toth and Mary Dreher; grandchildren, Hunter Goldean (Shannon Leidich) and Jerome Hotchkiss (Chelsea Shivak), several nieces and nephews, many cousins, and countless friends that were like family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Per Lou’s request, no public funeral or memorial service will be held. Instead, he hopes that people celebrate his memory with a good story or two. Lou strived to leave the world a better place so in lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the charity of your choice.
