Marilyn E. Simko, 91, of Fairport Harbor, passed away at her home on November 1, 2024. Marilyn was born on June 30, 1933, in Union City, PA, the daughter of the late Ralph and Marian (Smith) Fisk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William “Billy”, her grandson Nathaniel, and her siblings Robert, James, Frederick, Virginia, and Donald.
Marilyn retired as a homemaker after 69 years of raising her husband, children, and grandchildren. She belonged to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fairport and was a firm believer in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony.
Marilyn enjoyed cooking, bargain hunting and offering her skills by volunteering for such things as preparing perch for fish frys at the Fairport VFW, making donuts at St. Anthony and helping with food socials at the Hungarian Culture Club. She also enjoyed assisting her husband with many projects around the home such as holding the ladder while Bill climbed the tall roof to repair a chimney or hand him tools under the car in order to save money on the cost of repairs.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Joseph “Bill”, sons Chris (Marie Blough) and Tom, daughters Donna Myers (Barry Layman), Suzanne Telling (Brian), brothers Gordon Fisk, Larry Succi (Sally) and Ken Succi (Margaret), grandchildren Joshua, Erin, Kate, Jessica, Nadine, Brianna, Anna, Shania, and Tristan, great-grand children Charlize, Killian, Taryn, Celaena, Asher, Logan and Kasey, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank her hospice caregivers Becky, Precious, Christina, Julie, and nurses Amber and Rose.
Memorial calling hours will be held Sunday, November 10, 2024 from 1-2PM at St. Anthony of Padua, 316 Fifth St., Fairport Harbor, followed immediately by a Memorial Mass at 2PM and gathering at the St. Anthony social hall above the church.
