Mary Ann Kish Obituary

Our Angel Mary Ann (Takacs) Kish passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023, at age 95, and is now resting in Heaven. Born in Painesville, Ohio on May 18, 1928. Mary attended St. Mary's school in Painesville and the Divine Redeemer Academy in Pennsylvania. Married on August 13, 1949, she celebrated 64 years of marriage to her beloved husband Ernest Kish (Thorpe, West Virginia) until his passing on November 24, 2013. Together they created a beautiful family of 9 children: Ernie Jr. (Peggy) of Mentor, OH., John (Becky) of Concord, OH., Teresa of Clearwater, FL., Andy (Suzanne) of Virginia; Jim, Margaret, and Paul of Painesville, OH., George (Michel) of Alpharetta, GA., and Caroline of Los Angeles, CA.  Mary has 18 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart.

Mary was very active at St. Mary's Church in Painesville, OH where she played the organ for the mass for 23 years, volunteered at Meals on Wheels, was a 4-H Leader, a member of the Legion of Mary, Pompei Society, Marion Club, and Rosary Society. She made thousands of Rosaries to send worldwide, loved to read (her favorite book the bible) and sewed dresses for prizes at St. Mary's fairs.

Mary was an amazing cook, making dishes passed down from her parents who came to America from Hungary and started a dairy farm. She loved to travel and visited Portugal, Mexico and Japan and spent her winter months in Dunedin, Florida. Family gatherings were very important to her, coffee and pie with her sisters, visiting her brothers, and the infamous Takacs/Tvergyak/Kish reunions were always filled with great conversation, amazing food, playing games, and laughter. Mary was always a family-first woman, she would give you the shirt off her back and pack you a meal to-go, including a fresh baked pie.

Mary was one of nine children in the Takacs family. She was preceded in death by her parents Michael & Maria Francesca (Simon); five brothers: Mike, Jim, Joe, Frances, and Bill; 3 sisters: Julia, Helen and recently, her youngest sister Margaret. Mary had a sweet disposition on life. Our mother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother, great grandmother, amongst so many other titles.  She will be missed dearly.     Egészségedre. Legyen sok boldogságunk.
