Mary Anne Kelly Obituary

 Mary Anne Kelly, age 96, passed away March 30, 2026, in Mentor, Ohio with her loving family by her side. She was born June 2, 1929, in Leechburg, Pennsylvania to Dwight T. Hankey and Elna L (Tench) Hankey. She moved to Grand River, Ohio, at an early age. She graduated from Harvey High School in 1947. She continued to live in Grand River, the majority of her life until moving to The Enclave of Newell Creek, Mentor, Ohio.

Mary Anne worked in sales at Carlisle’s in Painesville for over 41 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was involved in the Mary Martha Circle and the Hosanna Circle. She was also a member of the Fairport Harbor Senior Center.

Mary Anne enjoyed working on numerous craft projects such as quilting, knitting, crocheting and sewing. She enjoyed making Christmas ornaments for all her children, grandchildren, great and great-great-grandchildren for years. She also enjoyed reading and was an avid bowler in her younger years. She was a kind, generous and funny woman who was filled with love and a little bit of “sass”.

Mary Anne is survived by her children Michael (Lori) Kelly, Daniel (Francine) Kelly, Timothy (Pam) Kelly and Colleen (Joseph) Abt. She is a grandmother of 9, great-grandmother of 8 and a great-great-grandmother of 3.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 61 years of marriage, William “Bill” Kelly Jr. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Kathryn A. Robinson, son-in-law John Robinson; son Kevin D. Kelly and daughter-in-law Cheryl Kelly; her parents, as well as all of her sisters, Doris Hoffman, Sally Hough (her twin sister), Alma Hankey, Janet Hankey, and Donna Toney; and her great grandson Colton Thomas.

A private graveside service for Mary Anne will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Riverside Cemetery, Painesville, Ohio. A private Celebration of Life for her family will be held at noon on May 9, 2026.
