Mary B. Lencse, age 98, of Madison, passed away peacefully at the David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland. She was born in Painesville to Nunzio and Margaret Battista.
She was a 1945 graduate of Villa Maria High School in Villa Maria, PA. She married John J. Lencse in 1950 at St. Mary Church in Painesville. They resided in Painesville, Chardon and Roaming Shores.
Mary had many jobs throughout her career; her favorite being the first Admission Director for Light of Hearts Villa in Bedford.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Thompson and was a former member of the Villa Maria Alumni Association, the Geauga County Christ Child Society, and the Bereavement Council at St. Patrick’s. Mary loved to shop and go out to lunch with her friends. She also enjoyed traveling and visited, Canada, Mexico, Italy, Switzerland, Greece and the Greek Islands.
Mary was born under a full moon, passed away under a full moon and lived a full life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brothers, Patsy Battista of Madison, Joseph Battista of Redneck, Georgia, and Anthony Battista of Painesville.
Mary leaves behind her daughter, Mary Taylor of Madison, and her long-time and loyal friends, Marcia and John Swick of Painesville, Dr. Juanita Castaneda of Pepper Pike and Mrs. Dee Hines of Thompson.
Funeral Mass is was held 10:00 AM, Monday, November 24, 2025, at Light of Hearts Villa and her interment at Riverside Cemetery.
