Mary "Jean" Atwell

Mary “Jean” Atwell, age 84, passed away September 2, 2024, at the Lantern of Madison.  She was born August 25, 1940, in Painesville to Harry and Mary (Repen) Roberts. 

Jean worked at the Chestnut Street Convenient Mart for over 20 years.  She enjoyed working with her co-workers and interacting with the customers.  She also enjoyed bowling and traveling with her team to bowling tournaments.  Jean especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and her best friend, of 70 + years, Rose Strekal. 

Jean is survived by her sons, Chuck (Sue) Atwell, John (Ronda) Atwell, Bernie (Jeannie) Atwell, Dan (Kris) Atwell and Joe (Kim) Atwell; Eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard A. Atwell; son, Richard A. Atwell; brother, Bill Roberts; sister, Marylou Roberts; and parents, Harry and Mary Roberts.

Friends will be received 4:00 – 7:00 PM., Friday, September 6, 2024, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville.  Funeral Services will follow at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Jean was a huge “Elvis” fan and loved everything Elvis.  To honor Jean, please wear your favorite “Elvis attire”.
