Mary Lou Miller

Mary Lou Miller, age 96, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on August 31, 2024, in Perry, Ohio.  She was born May 25, 1928, in Columbus, Ohio, to Frank and Jennie (Coccia) Galilei.

Mary Lou met and married Carroll Miller, in her early 20’s and they enjoyed 67 years of marriage until his death in November 2017. A dedicated mother, they raised their two loving children in Columbus, Ohio before retiring to Naples, Florida, where they lived for 14 years. In 1991, they relocated to Perry, Oh, along with their son and his family, where she enjoyed many years as a loving and caring grandmother and great-grandmother. An active member of St. Cyprian’s Catholic Church, Mary Lou also enjoyed her membership at the Christ Child Society, and volunteering at Perry Center and Perry Senior Center.

Mary Lou is survived by her daughter, Debra A. (William) Kanda; son, Craig (Sandy) Miller; grandchildren, Tim (Machille) Kanda, Steve (Chelsea) Kanda, Greg (Erin) Kanda, Wendy Strnisa, Rob Kanda, Christopher Kanda, Andy (Becky) Miller, Mary (Paul) Coleman, and Jennie Miller (fiancé Donnie Kincart); great-grandchildren, Addison Miller, Aiden Miller, Luke Miller, Lily Strnisa, Landon Strnisa, Ava Kanda, Claire Kanda and Reagan Kanda; brother, Frank Galilei; sister, Betty Jo LaPenna; sister-in-law, Georgia Galilei, and was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll B. Miller; grandson, David Kanda; brothers, Tony Galilei, Jerry Galilei and Bill Galilei; sisters, Rose DiPaolo and Connie Beum Thomas; brothers-in-law, Louie DiPaolo, Danny LaPenna, Bill Thomas and Robert Beum; sisters-in-law, Sofia Galilei and Virginia Galilei and her parents.

Friends will be received 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Friday, September 6th at St. Cyprian Catholic Church, 4223 Middle Rodge Road, Perry, Ohio.   Burial will be at Perry Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary Lou’s memory to St. Cyprian’s Catholic Church or Hospice of the Western Reserve.
