Michael R. Mucciarone, age 97, passed away August 3, 2023, at David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland. He was born November 4, 1925, in Painesville to Michael A. and Anna ( Palumbo) Mucciarone.
Mike was the tavern owner of Mike’s Café in Painesville for many years. He served in the U. S. Army as a corporal. He was an MP and he guarded the Nuremberg prisoners who stood trial for war crimes during WW II. In his leisure time, Mike enjoyed golf, fishing, and baseball.
Mike is survived by his wife of 72 years, Patricia (Hellriegel) Mucciarone; sons, David Mucciarone, and James Mucciarone (Amy McCarthy); daughter, Susan Mucciarone (David Moore); grandchildren, Jesse Mucciarone (Heather Cornacchione), Shane Elersic and Jeremy (Dawn Farren) Elersic, Sam Nighman, Kendall and Cooper McCarthy; and special great grandchildren Ava and Carmen Mucciarone, along with many others. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Mary Hribar and Adeline Schwartz, and his brother, Eugene Mucciarone.
Friends will be received 4:00-7:00 PM, Monday, August 7, 2023, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 8th at St. Mary Catholic Church, 242 North State Street, Painesville, Ohio. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
