Michael E. Slocombe

Michael E. Slocombe, age 73, passed away October 16, 2024, at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland.   He was born May 7, 1951, in Cleveland to Edward and Ruth (Ellis) Slocombe.

Michael served in the United States Army.  He received his bachelor’s degree from Lake Erie College (1983).

Michael worked in quality control for the Ranpak Corporation for several years.   He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Painesville.  Michael enjoyed his dogs, and he also enjoyed gardening, woodworking and carpentry.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Michael is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Zrim) Slocombe; children, Chris (Kim), Tim (Kaitlin) and Annemarie (Cameron); grandchildren, Hannah, Ava, Peter, and Myles. He is also survived by his two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law. In addition, Mike is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: brother, Larry Slocombe; sisters, Barbara Michalski, Diane Gombos and Marian Harris.

Friends will be received 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday, October 21, 2024, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, October 22nd at St. Mary Catholic Church, 242 North State Street, Painesville, Ohio (which will be live-streamed) .  Burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mike’s memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
