Mihaly “Mike” Suhajda, age 92, passed away January 25, 2025, at his residence in Perry. He was born September 29, 1932, in Polgar, Hungary to Bertalon Suhajda and Veronika (Palnok) Suhajda.
Mike and his wife Ibi escaped Hungary in 1956 during the Hungarian Revolution. They lived in their home in Fairport Harbor until 1990. Upon returning to the area in 1994, they lived in Perry,
Mike retired from Morrison Products in Euclid in 1997 where he was a production supervisor. While he worked for Morrison Products, they sent him to establish their branch in Canton, Georgia where he set up the facility and supervised the production line from 1990 through 1994.
Mike was a long-time member of the Fairport Mardi Gras, a member of the Men’s Civic Club, and the Hungarian Reformed Church. He served two terms on the Fairport Exempted Village School Board and was elected to the Lake County Joint Vocational School Board.
Mike is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ibolya “Ibi” (Lokos) Suhajda; children, Michael “Mark” Suhajda, Antoinette (Gordon) Wolfe and Julie (Richard) Sanders; grandchildren, Colleen (Randall) Griffin, Heather Gragg and Emily Sanders; great grandchildren, Christian Paugh, Ava Paugh, Ryleigh Gliha and Olivia Gliha.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be received 4:00 – 7:00 PM, Friday, January 31, 2025, at Mulqueeny-Spear Funeral Home, 312 Eagle Street, Fairport Harbor, Ohio. Private burial services will be at Perry Cemetery.
