Myrtle "Evalee" Seckman

Myrtle “Evalee” Seckman, age 87, passed away November 4, 2023, in Mentor, Ohio.  She was born August 18, 1936, in McMinnville, Tennessee to Orville and Ora Mae (Holt) Austin. 

She was a member of Painesville Baptist Church, 140 Park Road, Painesville. 

Evalee loved anything family!  She was nurturing to everyone, and her heart cast endless love. She enjoyed camping with her grandchildren and sisters. Crafting was also a favorite pastime. 

Evalee is survived by her children, Jamie (Carol) Seckman and Chris (Gary) Shepherd; grandchildren, Jenny Adams, Jeremiah Seckman, Channing (Ryan) Havrilla, and Clay (Maria) Shepherd; great grandchildren, Graham Havrilla, Luka Shepherd, Ema Shepherd, and Jake Adams. The oldest of 8 children, she is survived by sisters, Dorothy Waltz, Linda (Don) Gregory, and Rosie Sisson; brother Ernie Austin; many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl “Dayton” Seckman. A match made in heaven February 21, 1953, is now reunited for all eternity. Evalee is also proceeded in the death of her parents; Barbara (Austin) Adams, daughter/sister; and brothers, Jesse “Buster” Austin, and J. W. Austin. 

Friends will be received 1:00 – 3:00 PM on Sunday November 12, 2023, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio.  A Private Funeral Service will be held Monday, November 13th at 10:00 AM.    Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. In leu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Painesville Baptist Church; or consider your favorite charity.
