Paul J. Van Jura, age 69, of Mentor, passed away peacefully Monday, April 18, 2022. He was born October 16, 1952, in Painesville to Joseph P. and Alice (Zimny) Van Jura.
He was a graduate of Fairport Harbor High, Class of 1970. Paul received a Bachelor’s degree at Kent State University and later his Master’s in Education from Ashland University. He was a teacher and coach for many schools, but he spent most of his career at Ridge JHS and Mentor HS. He dedicated his life to helping family, friends, and students in any way he could. He was an outdoorsman, enjoyed fishing, hiking, boating, and golf.
Paul is survived by his children: Joseph Van Jura of Mentor and Kate (Mark Calabrese) Van Jura of Concord; grandchildren Joey, Audrey, and Ella; brothers, Dan (Pam) Sabo of The Villages, Fla., Jim (Robin) Van Jura of Rutherfordton, NC. sister, Marie Bodak of Fairport Harbor, OH., and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong friends, and co-workers.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Kathy Sivers, and brother-in-law, Rick Bodak.
The family will receive friends 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday April 22, 2022, at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, OH.
All are welcome to join us for a Celebration of Life to be held 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM Saturday April 23, 2022, at the Hungarian Culture Club 633 High Street Fairport Harbor, OH 44077.
