R. Jayne Krager Obituary

Roberta Jayne Krager, age 86, passed away March 8, 2025, at University Hospital in Cleveland.  She was born January 6, 1939, in Wheeling, West Virginia to Robert Harris and Wilma (Clark) Harris.

Jayne was a devoted wife, mother, and friend whose greatest joy was caring for her beloved husband and family. A dedicated homemaker, she also built a fulfilling career, working as a Golf Course Manager at Powderhorn Country Club and later as a Manager at Mailboxes Etc. Even in retirement, she remained active, serving as Treasurer for the NEO Model A Ford Club.

A true adventurer at heart, Jayne had a passion for travel, exploring four of the seven continents with her family. Cruises were her preferred way to see the world, and she cherished visits to favorite U.S. destinations like "The World Famous" Geneva-on-the-Lake, Florida, and Texas.

Jayne’s enthusiasm for life shone through in her many hobbies and interests. An avid bargain hunter, she found pure joy in a good Kohl’s sale. She lovingly curated collections of dish sets, penguins, and tins, each holding a special story. A gifted seamstress, she was known for crafting stunning prom and homecoming dresses for family and friends. Jayne’s kitchen was always open, and no one ever left her home hungry—she delighted in cooking and baking for those she loved. Her generosity extended beyond her home as an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, where she participated in philanthropic events and meetings.

A passionate supporter of her family’s endeavors, Jayne never missed a football game coached by her husband, Jim, and was a constant presence at her children’s sporting events. She also had a deep love for sending and receiving holiday greeting cards—every holiday imaginable!

Fiercely independent, Jayne took pride in driving herself around town. She always cherished having a new car and ensured it was titled in her name. This year, on her birthday in January, she even managed to charm the DMV into issuing her a new driver’s license—a feat she proudly shared, despite knowing she wouldn’t be driving.

Jayne’s warmth, kindness, and radiant smile touched everyone who knew her. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know her.

Jayne is survived by her loving husband, James J. Krager; her sons, Jim Krager and Josh (Toni) Krager; and her daughter, Janice (Joe) Calhoun. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Joe (Jenna) Calhoun III, Cristian Coyne, Cameron (Danielle) Coyne, and Colin (Brittany) Coyne.

She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sherry Harris; her sister, Susan (Dennis) Gladora; and her brother, John Harris, along with numerous cherished nieces and nephews.

Jayne was preceded in death by her beloved parents and her brother, Robert Harris Jr.
