Ramon N. Cimaglio, age 91, passed away February 24, 2025, in Mentor, Ohio. He was born April 17, 1933, in Painesville to Nicholas Cimaglio and Delphine (Borrelli) Cimaglio.
Ramon was very proud of his early years playing high school football at both Perry and Harvey, and then as a scholarship athlete at Bowling Green State University. Ramon served in the United States Army and then afterward, appeared in the movie “One Potato, Two Potatoes” which was filmed in Painesville. He was self-employed in the insurance industry for many years, later, as a Regional Sales Manager for both W. S. Tyler in Mentor, and Williams Mettle Co. out of Houston, TX.
Ramon enjoyed watching high school sports, as well as Cleveland professional sports, but his greater joy came from years of coaching Beth’s girls softball teams and boys Pee-Wee football at St. Gabriels. He loved playing golf, even recording a hole-in-one at the OSU Gray Course.
Ramon and Janice had several couples with whom they were lifelong friends, including Phil and Barb, Sonny and Ruth Ann, Phil and Phyllis, and Sam and Lupe, and as couples, they made sure to travel to wonderful destinations each year, enjoying each others company and celebrating their enduring friendships. While at home, Ramon and Phil loved making their homemade wine, and in giving back to the community with weekly service at Meals on Wheels. He was instrumental in starting the annual neighborhood clambake where they served over 40 meals. His circle of friends was always expanding, and he cherished the time spent with friends made while spending winters at their Arizona home, playing bocce, golf and dancing.
Ramon is survived by his wife of sixty-six (66) years, Janice (Roberts) Cimaglio; son, Jeffrey Cimaglio, daughter, Beth Cimaglio; grandson, Ty Jeffrey; sisters, Antoinette Lott and Lucille Frederick.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Cecilia Clark, and his brothers-in-law, George Lott, Ron Frederick, and Gary Clark.
The family would also like to extend sincere special thanks to his lifelong friend Phil Giaconia, Cypress Hospice (primary care giver, Kay) & the staff & caregivers at the Enclave of Mentor.
