Richard L. Drotleff was born in Childress, Texas on March 18, 1944 to Lenhart and Gladys (Gehrke) Drotleff. He passed away peacefully December 18, 2020.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janet (Centnar) Drotleff; daughter, Tammy Schreffler of Chardon; son, Brian Drotleff (Katie) of North Royalton; grandchildren, Daniel and Brandon Schreffler, and Addison and Zachary Drotleff; sisters, Gayle (Jerry) Smith of Twinsburg, Ohio, Kathy (Rick) Giusti of Avon, Ohio, brother, Mark Drotleff of Moore, SC. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He grew up in Avon Lake, Ohio before moving to Painesville, Ohio, and has resided there for the past 55 years. He was a graduate of Avon Lake High School, Lorain Community College, and Lake Erie College. He was employed by Diamond Shamrock for many years as well as Varian Analytical Instruments. In 1999, he and his wife started their own business, The Cruise Company of Concord, because they enjoyed cruising. He was an avid gardener and woodworker. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2020, 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 508 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio. Visitation of friends will be on Tuesday, December 29, between 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio. Private family interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Painesville, Ohio, following the funeral services.
