Robert "Bob" Orosky Obituary

Robert “Bob” Orosky, age 87, of Painesville, OH passed away, joining God again, on November 16, 2023, while surrounded by family at Fairmount Health/Breckenridge Village in Willoughby.  He was born a first generation Hungarian-American on February 13, 1936 in Cleveland to Theresa (Takacs) and Michael J Orosky.   He was a beloved and devoted son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, dad, papa, and friend who was a hard-working man that always provided for his family.

Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1959 to 1961, with active service in Germany, and in the United States Army Reserves until 1965.  After he returned home in 1961, he met the love of his life, Betty, at the Euclid Rollerdrome, and they were married in 1963.  They both felt blessed to have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary together this year on October 19th.

Bob worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation for over 35 years, retiring as the Superintendent of Lake County, Ohio in 1994.  Then, he worked for Quality Control Inspection, Inc. as an engineering consultant for 7 years.

Bob was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fairport where he sang in the church’s choir.  He was a member of the Hungarian Culture Club, the VFW Post 7754 and a member of the Republican Party in Lake and Cuyahoga County.  Together, Bob and Betty enjoyed being members of bowling leagues at Painesville Lanes and members of the Painesville Dance Club.  In his leisure time, Bob enjoyed tinkering, reading, and cooking.  Most of all, he loved time spent with his family and being involved in their lives.

Bob is survived by his best friend and loving wife, Elizabeth “Betty” (Hilston) Orosky; son, Eric John (Erin) Orosky; daughter, Connie (Greg) McCullough; grandchildren, David Mayne, Eric Joseph Orosky, Maddie Orosky, and Daniel McCullough; sister-in-law, Rosemary Hilston; many nieces and nephews; and, lifelong friend Miles (Brigitte) Averill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Victor Orosky; sisters, Eleanor (Frank) Hlad, Ella (Martin) Tookmanian, Ethel Orosky and Elsie Orosky; and brother-in-law, John Hilston.

Graveside services and interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 501 Main Street, Painesville, Ohio, on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 11:00 AM.  Family and friends are kindly invited to attend.
