Roger was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on January 14, 1949, and died on March 21, 2024, at home. In his early years he attended Resurrection School, spent his summers at the Moore pool in Brookline and worked at Isaly’s. He graduated from South Hills high school and the University of Pittsburgh including the ROTC program. In Vietnam he was a Second Lieutenant and a platoon leader of an Army Quartermaster Unit when he was awarded a bronze star medal. He was a member of VFW Post 7754.
Roger worked for American Motors as assistant warehouse manager in Jacksonville, Florida and operations manager in McLean, Virginia. His career finalized with the US Postal Service in Willoughby.
Roger enjoyed water aerobics, train collections, and listening to 60’s and 70’s music. He attended CLE sports events but was true to Pittsburgh Steelers.
He leaves his wife Beth of 37 years of marriage, siblings, Lois Linck (husband Bill deceased), Loraine Platt (husband Bob deceased), Patricia (Dan) Hutzley, sisters-in law, Kathy Mettler (husband Bill deceased), Louise (Jim) Balog, brother-in-law, John Horvath and many nieces and nephews. His parents Sophia (Lipovsky) and Joseph Hripko are deceased.
Calling hours are from 2-5 pm on March 24, 2024, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio 44077. Mass of Christian Burial is 9:30 am on March 25 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge, Concord, Ohio 44060. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio at a later date.
