Rudolph M. Prugel, age 92 passed away May 6, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.
Rudy was born in Painesville, Ohio in 1932 to the late Rudolph S. and Louise (Schnell) Prugel, where he was a lifelong resident.
He graduated from Harvey High School in Painesville and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953.
Rudy and Gloria, his wife of 69 years, are founding members of St Gabriel's Catholic Church in Concord, Ohio where they spent many years volunteering at the Food Bank and as members of the Heavenly Dusters.
He worked at Diamond Shamrock and at Coe Mfg. as a machinist until his retirement, when he was picked up for his first ride in a limousine by his wife and children.
Rudy enjoyed tinkering in his shop and was a masterful woodworker creating many beautiful pieces for his family. Mostly, he valued spending time with his family. Rudy is the family dog whisperer having never met a dog he didn't like. He is known for his quiet strength, sense of humor and love for God and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria (Sue), son, Jeffrey and daughters, Ellen (David) Mayo, Lori (Larry) Brown, Beth (Timothy) Smith and Jennifer (Richard) Kucera, sister, Eva Smith, brother, Michael Prugel, grandchildren, Ryan Farrell, Patrick (Regina) Farrell, Maxwell Brown, Shelby (Austin) Schimley, Anne (Matthew) Zarefoss and Matthew Anthony, and four great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 12:00 noon on Monday, July 1, 2024, at St. Gariel Catholic Church at 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Road in Concord Twp Ohio. Family and friends will be received at 11:00 am before mass at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, PO Box 7210, Cleveland Ohio. The family would like to extend special appreciation to his caregivers and nurses at Hospice.
