Russell J. "Jim" Wilfong

Funeral services for Jim Wilfong, age 86, of Eastlake will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 20th at Lakeside Baptist Church, 306 Fairport Nursery Road in Painesville.  The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave. Painesville. Final resting place will be at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chesterland. 

Jim passed away at Hospice House following a brief illness on October 17th, 2021.  Loving wife, Lois (Willie) (nee Stamey) preceded him in death, on March 2, 2018.  They were married for 63 years.  Jim leaves behind daughters, Linda Satyshur, Janey (Ray) Kennedy and Terri Wilfong.  Grandfather to James (Tara) Satyshur, Allen Satyshur, Roni Satyshur and great grandchildren, Ben, Olivia, Zayn, Aviana, Caleb, Kaya, Logan, Maya, Bradley and Frankie.

Jim was born on October 28, 1934, in Progress, West Virginia to Russell W. Wilfong and Ermal (nee Marks) who have preceded him in death.  Also preceding him in death are his sisters Erma Ruth and Evalee and his brother Charles.

Jim left West Virginia and relocated to Ohio at age 16, where he remained his entire life.  He served in the Army from 1957 to 1959 and immediately went to work in construction. Jim was a member of the Carpenters’ Union and became a foreman for many years prior to his retirement. Jim was the master of all trades and the hardest worker you would ever meet.

He was a devout Christian serving his Lord and worshiping at Lakeside Baptist for many years. He actively served and had also helped in the building of the new church.

He was kind, generous and a good listener.  He loved his family very much and they made him proud. Everybody loved Jim...he will be dearly missed.

Contributions can be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve. The amazing staff gave him peace in his final days for which we are so grateful.  We are also so grateful to the staff at Lake West who took the best care of him in the early part of this journey.
