Ruth E. (Benedict) Polzer

Ruth E. Polzer, age 91, passed away September 13, 2025, at her residence in Painesville Township.

 Ruth is survived by her children, Elaine Stephens, Kathleen (Joe) Pinchot, Barbara Hilston, Nancy Bullard, Robert (Tam) Polzer, Lisa (Mike) Rowan and Mary (Mike Ball) Dregne; Twenty-Three grandchildren; and Twenty-Four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert W. Polzer in 2014; her sons-in-law, Ed Stephens, Mike Hilston, Ted Bullard; great grandson, Jacob Joseph Hilston and her parents Howard Benedict and Antoinette (Hansen) Benedict.

Ruth considered her role as wife, mother and homemaker her most important vocation. She was also a working mom at the Road Workers Credit Union and later retired from her position at the Lake County Treasurer's office. As a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Painesville she served the church as a CCD (PSR) teacher for sixteen years. Ruth and Bob were also members of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Thompson for many years.

She felt strongly about serving the hungry and poor by supporting the West Side Catholic Center, Catholic Worker drop-in center and Salvation Army in Painesville.

Friends will be received from 09:30 AM - 10:30 AM, Friday. September 19, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 242 North State Street, Painesville, Ohio. Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 10:30 AM.

Burial will be at Williams Cemetery in Leroy Township at a later date.
