Shirley M (Kochever) Nelson

Shirley (Kochever) Nelson, age 84 of Fairport Harbor, OH was born October 25,1936 in Boynton, PA to John and Margaret (Faidley) Kochever.  She passed away March 13, 2021 in Painesville Twp., OH.  Shirley worked for the Diamond Alkali Chemical Company early on in her career and later worked as the District Treasurer for Fairport Harbor Board of Education until her retirement. Shirley also served on Zion Lutheran Church Council (Fairport Harbor), as well as Fairport Public Library Board. She enjoyed music, dancing, playing the piano, playing the violin, reading,  traveling, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.  Shirley's vibrant and friendly personality captivated all those around her. She was so dynamic and was always the life of a party. Her infectious smile, her laughter, her feisty spirit, and her sense of style were her trademarks. No matter who you were, or how long you knew her, you always left her presence feeling like a friend. Sprinkling joy and kindness came naturally to her.  Shirley is survived by her daughter, Raeann (Michael) Hess of Painesville Twp.; grandchildren, Aleena, Michaela, Maya and Michael; brother, Don Kochever of Topeka, Kansas and longtime close family friends she loved as daughters, Lorna Kennedy and Ruth Manning of Dublin, Ireland.  She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Kochever; husband, H. Raymond Nelson; son, Raymond Rick Nelson, and sister Eva Jean Hutzel.  A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to her granddaughter's fundraising campaign for a diabetic alert dog.
