Thomas Reed, age 89, passed away April 5, 2025, at Heritage Care Skilled Nursing. He was born May 26, 1935, in Painesville to Charles and Myrtle Reed. Tom was a 1953 graduate of Riverside High School and served in the U. S. Army in the 11th Airborne in Germany.
Tom was the owner of Tom Reed General Contracting. He was proud of his work on over 450 job sites including commercial and residential construction projects. He enjoyed driving around town and showing his family the houses he built or remodeled. He remodeled and lived in two-century homes.
Tom was married to his wife Geraldine for 65 years until she passed away in 2022.
Tom was a lifelong member of the Elks. He was an antique car collector and took many road trips in his Model A car with the NEO Model A Ford Club. Tom and his family loved spending time at their Lazy Ledges cabin in Thompson. They hosted many family campouts, fish fries, and weekend cookouts with family and friends.
Tom is survived by his siblings, Joanne Carter, Sheridan (Jan) Reed, John Reed, Lola (Ralph) Victor, and Larry (Nancy) Reed. He is also survived by his children, Becky (Charlie) Suran, Darlene (Rick) Douglas, Andrea Passafiume, Brad (Colette) Reed, Cheryl Reed, and Colleen (Roger) Weir; nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles,Clifford, Phillip, and his sister Bonnie and his parents.
Family and friends may call from 4-7 PM Thursday April 10, 2025, at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave. Painesville. Services will be Friday April 11, 2025, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
