Sam died on November 9, 2023 at the age of 72. He was born on August 2, 1951 to Thomas J and Irene (Rego) Shelby in Painesville, Ohio. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Sally (Cameron) Shelby, sons Patrick and Matthew Shelby, daughter Crystal (LeShawn) Shelby Brown, sisters Kathy (Tim-deceased) Saluk, Nancy (Greg-deceased) Underwood, brother Jim (Sherry) Shelby, sister-in-law Linda (Larry) Legg, grandchildren Leyla and Carter Brown, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Gilbert and Marion Shelby, George and Elizabeth Rego, father-in-law Clarence Cameron and mother-in-law Norine Cameron, and several aunts and uncles.
Whether working 40 feet off the ground or at ground level Sam enjoyed his long career as a window cleaner and owned a window cleaning business for many years. Besides his family, he also loved his two cairn terriers and his hometown of Fairport Harbor. He was a boater and fisherman who was drawn to the water from childhood. In his younger years he played baseball, softball, and flag football. From midget league to adult softball, if it was a baseball or softball Sam loved to throw it! He had numerous good friends from long ago who were friends for life. Bless them all. He was a one-of-a-kind who will be missed by many. A private family graveside will be held at a later date.
