Trent Norris, age 86, passed away December 11, 2024, at home in Painesville. He was born November 9, 1938, in Philippi, West Virginia to Hoy and Dorothy Norris. He moved to Ohio in 1962 to pursue a teaching career.
Trent was a teacher for 35 years. He first taught in Mentor, then Garfield Heights and finished his career as a teacher at Leroy Elementary School for 29 years, retiring in 1997. Trent loved teaching and his students, and his students loved him in return. He had a positive influence on his students that, for many, lasted into their adult years. Many continued to reach out to him over the years with gratitude and appreciation for having been in his class.
Trent enjoyed fishing, baseball, country music, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his 2 grandsons. He loved talking with people, whether he knew them or not, and always had kind words to say as well as a joke or two. In fact, most of you reading this were “named after him”!
Trent was a loving husband, father, and grandfather as well as kind, thoughtful, and caring person to everyone he ever met.
Trent is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joanne (Horrell) Norris; son, Brian (Rong) Norris; daughter, Jody Norris; and grandsons Kevin and Alex.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Dolores and brother-in-law Lemuel Mayle.
Friends will be received 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio. Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, December 20th at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Trent's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
