Obituary

Services for Venetia K. Mio, known by her many friends as "Buzzie" will be held Friday, March 24 at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville. Family and friends may call from 4-6.

Buzzie was the daughter of Napolean and Antonia (Petropolous) Katsoules, of New Bedford, MA. She was born on January 28, 1943 and died on March 18, 2023 at Metro Health Medical Center, after suffering a traumatic brain injury caused by a fall at her home.

Buzzie was a 1964 graduate of Lake Erie College, Painesville,OH. She worked for a brief time as a Social Worker for the state of Ohio. She later worked as an Administrative Assistant for a company that provided Governmental financial consultation services.

Buzzie loved the ocean. One of her favorite hobbies was to walk the miles of sands with Lou, while collecting seashells. Buzzie spent most of the Winter seasons leisurely strolling the beaches of Florida from Key West to Pensicola.

She also enjoyed returning to her home town in New Bedford, where her brother-in-law made a living on his small lobster boat. You could find her wasting away her summer days in the Atlantic ocean on the roof of the wheelhouse sunbathing while her brother-in-law and Lou were lobster fishing. The irony was, Buzzie would not eat lobster.

Buzzies favorite season was Spring. She enjoyed the more subtle things in life and noticed beauty in everything around her. She loved when the trees and flowers started to bud. You could always find her fawning over baby geese as they started taking their first steps. There was nothing about Spring that didn't catch her eye.

Buzzie was known to everyone who knew her to be one of the most thoughtful person in the room. She was loved and adored by all who knew her. Her absence will create a tremendous void and her thoughtfulness and love will be greatly missed by her family.

She and Lou were two peas in a pod! In their later years you could find them on any given day during any given season at Giant Eagle or Marcs.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, sister Antonia (Bunny) Katsoules and sister Valerie (Candy) Thornley and nephew Robert Thornley.

She is survived by her best friend and husband of 57 years, Lou Mio, her daughter Andrea Mio, her brother Nicholas (Linda) Katsoules, her nieces Angela (Norman) Boudreau, Lisa Eusebio, Kara (Josh) Reis and nephews Peter (Paige) Katsoules, Thomas (Ann) Thornley and Andrew Thornley.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to her favorite cause (and the recipient of more than one of her paychecks) , Rescue Village, 15463 Chillicothe Rd., Novelty, OH 44072.
