Walter S. Lazuka, 84, of Concord Township, died on May 29, 2022. He was surrounded by his loving family.
He was born January 13, 1938 to Sylvester and Helen (Wrubleski) Lazuka.
Walter was a man who cherished his faith. He was an active member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Concord Township for almost 50 years. He was involved in several ministries there, as a lector and Communion minister for parishioners and the homebound. For many years he also conducted weekly liturgy for the residents of Garfield Manor Nursing Home in Painesville.
He was a business owner for over 60 years in the Lake County area.
Family meant everything to Walter. He was a patriarch and spiritual mentor to his children, and an inspiration to his many friends and family members. His generous and loving spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched. He will be greatly missed.
Walter is survived by his “beautiful bride” of 58 years, Judith (Cavanagh); his children, Jean Lazuka, Elizabeth Hrusch, Walter Jr., Christopher (Anna), Joseph (Maureen), Stephen (Melissa), Scott (Victoria), Jennifer Lazuka, Michael and Paul (Maria). He leaves behind 23 adored grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Anthony Hrusch.
He is also survived by his devoted sisters Camille Rutherford, Barbara Herriman and Kathy Lazuka, and brother Sal Lazuka. He is preceded in death by his brother Michael Lazuka.
Friends and loved ones are invited to celebrate Walter’s life. Services are June 7 from 4-8pm at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave. Painesville, Ohio 44077. Funeral Mass will be held June 8 at 10am at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9935 Johnnycake Ridge Rd. Mentor, Ohio 44060. Internment will take place at All Souls Cemetery Chardon.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
